s/o names. What if.......

You and your husband can't agree on a name you or he has loved for years? 

True story: When I was 14 I was in Central Park lounging on the grass when the most beautiful human I had ever seen stopped his bike, winked at me, took a drink of water and wiped sweat off his brow.  I was immediately obsessed.  I couldn't stop staring at him.  My mother walks up next to me after he rides away and says "...isn't he a dream? That's John Kennedy jr."  So I decide at 14 I would name my son John Thomas and call him Jon Jon.  Then I met my idiot husband and he laughed at me and said no way-not a chance.  Sad  What if I never get my Jon Jon?  he said he detests the name. Should long loved names trump dislikes?

    I now have 4 kids.  My husband named the first one and I named the other 3 . . . you will win!

    I believe baby names should be a collaborative effort.  DH likes both of my long-loved names (I had one boy name and one girl name), but even so we ended up naming DD something else because I let DH pick the name off the list we had narrowed down.  DH has a girl's name he really wants to use this time around and I DETEST it.  Over my dead body would we ever use it!

    JFK jr, lucky you! I have loved Caroline forever and when I was pg with Cora, DH hated it. I brought it up recently and DH thought it was ok. I also love Claire and DH said " that's a whore's name" Nice.

    That's exactly whar I said to DH. Every Claire I know is  as sweet as can be!

    Hey if I didn't let him watch those he'd be hitting me up for sex 3 times a day (the man has a drive unlike any you've ever seen) and I just don't have time for that.

    There are a few names that I really like but DH hates... Naming Cabe was a nightmare and so I don't even want to think about naming another baby until the time comes!

    I kind of liked the name Austin but I wasn't 100% sold on it. I just wanted to name him Cabel and call him Cabe but DH didn't want his name to be Cabel... so that's why we hyphenated his first name so we both got what we wanted. He calls him Austin, I call him Cabe... my poor baby, my ILs call him Kainoa since DH's side all go by their Hawaiian names... I think in the end he'll answer to anything LOL!

    BTW, I think I won since Cabel is still part of his name and DH hated it!

    Ah the joy of marriage and compromise! That's how I got Jackson's middle name to be Elkanah (it's a family name). But to get that I had to agree that if we have a girl next her name will be Madeleine Catherine (both of our mother's names). I don't dislike the name, it was on our short list for girl names but there were some other names I liked more than that for a girl.
