My baby has pink-eye

and if the doctor visit earlier didnt traumatize DS (see post below) then trying to put drops in his eye will. How am I supposed to do this successfully? I have to sort of chuckle at the thought of doing this because after the day we have had already, its like a drop in the overflowing bucket.

I think I might start drinking heavily

Re: My baby has pink-eye

  • I have to put eye drops in DD's eyes everyday. Once he knows what is going on he will probably shut his eyes once he sees the bottle coming. One trick our eye doctor told us about was to let the drop fall on her eyelashes if her eye is closed. She will blink it in eventually. I usually do her drops while I am changing her diaper, do eye drop, then do diaper and I sing a made up blink your eyes song. The good news is those pink eye drops work pretty fast. Good luck!

  • DS has had pink eye before.  You just have to have someone help hold him down and then try to get it in there as best as possible.  GL!

  • DS has had pink eye twice.

Get someone to hold your LO so they are lying face up.  Put the drops into the corner of their eyes (because they'll shut them) and then wait for them to open them and the drops will fall in.

GL.  It sucks, but it's one of those parental rights of passage.

  • Kate just had pink eye too. I had to do two drops per eye. Once the first went in, she would squeeze her eye shut so I would just wait. She would open her eye a little to look around and I would put another in really quick. It was the worst right away when it was badly infected, but after a few days it was much better. She still doesn't like it, but now she doesn't scream and kick.
