Babies: 6 - 9 Months

rolling over - sippy cup etc

LO is only 5 and a half months old.. she refuses to roll over she did it once from tummy to back and never again... she can sit up on her own wobbles a little but doing good... is this a problem... anyone else have a late roller?

also when did you start the baby on a sippy cup?

Re: rolling over - sippy cup etc

  • DS still doesnt like to roll... He hates tummy time so the only way I get him to roll is doing tummy time and he rolls on his back. he started to roll around 5 months but still only does front to back. He loves to sit and I think this is why, same as your LO.

As for sippy cups, I know they say around 6 months or when they start solids. I have been bad at getting LO on one. I am actually going to buy one after work today!

  • for both kids my pedi recommended 6mos for the sippy cups.  As for rolling over, DD did it at 3 mos and then wouldnt do it again until 6-7mos.  DS does tummy to back but still gets stuck back to tummy;  he's been good at rolling for about a month (he's 7mos now).  I wouldnt worry about your LO, it's early yet.

  • DS rolled tummy to back a couple times around 4 months but it seemed like it was on accident.  Then he didn't do it at all again until recently and now he can do it on purpose but still doesn't do it often.  He has yet to go from back to tummy.  I'm slightly worried but he has great head/neck control and can sit up unassisted for several minutes at a time so I'm just focusing on what he can do and not what he can't!

Edit:  Forgot to answer about sippy cup.  We've been letting DS try out a regular cup about once a week.  I figure we'll start the sippy when he gets more regular with his solids at around 7 months.
