What's up with "The Vault?"

Ava is just now getting into sitting for movies so I've never bought any of they Disney DVD's before.  Beauty and the Beast comes out tomorrow, and I'm wondering if I need to run out and buy it or what?  What's up with the vault anyway?  When they come out, how long are they out before they go back in?

I think they rerelease them one at a time and then take them off the market for a few years. I plan on getting it for Maggie, I love that movie and I got a $10 off the DVD/Blu ray coupon from the Disney website. We don't have Blu ray but it's still cheaper this way than just the DVD.

Thanks for the tip on the coupon!  DH has a PS3 which plays Blu rays and I always forget that it does.

Disney's "vault" is annoying.  They typically enhance the film somehow (like addition of blu-ray, more special features, etc.) while they have it in the vault, but in all honesty, it's just part of their machine to make the most money off their movies.  No offense to anyone who loves Disney, but it's just a racket.

The movie will be out for a while after they release it, at least a few years if I remember right.  It will still be around for Christmas, or Easter next year, or her birthday so you don't have to run out and buy it at midnight.

We just joined that also.

It is the vault that made me start collecting Disney Movies long before I had kids - heck, long before I even met DH. Only downside is a lot of the movies are on VHS. LOL

shoot, I should have read the next reply before I went in to delete all that crap. That was crazy.

Um, so far it doesn't seem like a bad deal. We buy Disney movies anyway, so I think we only have to buy 2 to fulfill our commitment and you get 10 movies at something like 1.99 or 2.99. I will have to find the website for you if you are interested, DH signed up for it. I do like that they carry some movies that you can't find in stores anyway - like a few of the Tigger and Pooh Super Sleuths DVDs. Heck, I can't even find Tigger and Pooh on the Disney Channel anymore. I don't know what happened to it.

My sister just joined the Disney movie club.  She is planning to fulfill her commitment by buying DVDs for nieces and nephews for birthday and Christmas gifts -- I thought that was a pretty good idea!  (especially since my kids will a couple of the recipients, LOL)
