Maryland Babies

can you recommend your daycare provider?

I posted a while back looking for someone to nanny share or anyone interested in daycare but haven't had much luck. We have two more weeks with my parents helping me but then are stuck. I have called a bunch of in home daycare providers and they either don't have infant openings or don't take part time (I am a nurse and only need 2 days a week) the centers are the same. They laugh when I ask saying their wait list is pages long. So my question is does anyone know where I can find someone? We are stressing out!! Working moms I'm sure you know how I feel. It is so difficult to go to work and trust someone with something as precious as your baby. (sorry if this turned into a vent) TIA

  • I wish I could help. Have you tried sittercity or care.com? I know it's not ideal but it could help you find at least something in the interim. Craigslist also has some listings for people who are licensed too.

  • What area are you in? How far would you be willing to travel?

I *think* my DCP may have an opening, but she's located in Harford County. If you want, PM me! I'll give you some info.

  • Where are you located?

My DCP doesn't have an infant opening right now, but I interviewed 3 providers in the Owings Mills area and they all had infant openings and were willing to take on part time.

I found them through LOCATE and Craigslist.  Perhaps in your situation a SAHM who babysits would be a good fit too?

  • thank you for all your suggestions! we are in perry hall and my husband who will be doing most of the dropping off and picking up (i only pick up on night shifts) works in the city. i truly appreciate your responses.
  • I am a physician assistant who only needs part-time care as well.  I live and work in the city and have interviewing quite a few centers in the city.  I haven't found any within the city limits who accept part-time infants.  My coworker found one in Columbia who would because they needed to fill infant spots.  Good luck!  And let us know if you find anything!
  • You could try The Goddard School in White Marsh.  They allow part-time starting at 12 months and from your siggy you would probably be right on the edge of the 6-12 and 12-18 month rooms...I can't say enough good things about them, honestly.  I don't know if they have any opennings but its worth a shot.

Whatever you do, STAY AWAY from White Marsh Child Care!
