BG's burning baby bottoms: How to strip?

I'm a long-time BG user/lover, but I can't seem to get them stripped correctly this time.

The ones my son has been wearing for two years are the problem. They are giving him the worst rashes like they're burning his little booty. :( They also smell really bad when even the slightest pee gets in them.

I've bought disposables until we can get this sorted out...but am not sure how to strip to fix this. I know there are several different ways depending on the problem.

I've tried a small amount of bleach to no avail. What do you recommend? Blue Dawn? Vinegar? Something else?

  • The Dawn really helped me get my pockets clean and got rid of the smell with them, but I honestly didn't notice a difference with my inserts. I have tried rockin a soak over night and that has helped everything but my BG inserts, so I curious what suggestions you get!

I think my problem is hard water and using too much detergent. "Detergent build-up is generally noticed because diapers smell really good coming out of the dryer and then the diapers smell really foul as soon as the child pees." -- This describes our dipes to a T!

  • I was having this problem and i stripped with Dawn, it helped but as soon as I washed in our hard water, it came right back. I rocked a soak with RnG and haven't had any problems since. You can buy samples for one time use or RLR would probably work also since it took so long for you to have problems.
