1 Nursery or 2?

Did you keep your twins in the same nursery?  If so, how long?  We have been trying to figure out whether we should prepare 2 nurseries or 1.

Re: 1 Nursery or 2?

  • I think it all depends on how much room you have and whether you have good sleepers (who won't wake each other up).

We plan to put our girls in one room. We only have 3 bedrooms in our house, so that is one reason. And we also figure that it will be easier to check on them & make sure their oxygen levels are ok. (One of ours will come home with machines, but yours hopefully will not!)

    Congrats & a H&H 9 months to you :)

  • Thanks and glad your babies are doing well!  Hope they both come home soon

Agreed. We live in a 2-bdrm house so we've always had our boys in one room. It's worked out very well for us. If you do have LOs who don't wake each other up too much, I think it's really more convenient to have them in the same room, maybe till they're out of cribs.

  • i have mine both in the same room one twin is a good sleeper and will sleep through the other waking up once or twice a night but mine don't sleep together i think having them in the same room is easier so that way it's easier to check on them

  • We have a small 3 bedroom and they share a room because the 3rdd bedroom is so small. We are moving at the end of the month to a much bigger house and they will have their own rooms now at 15 months. I will say that with them sharing a room, that they both can sleep through anything, we Ferbered DD and DS slept through the whole thing. If we had had the room to seperate them, we probably would have when they started STTN.

  • I can't imagine having two rooms.  I'd go insane going back and forth to check on them & feed them.  My girls can sleep through each other crying so it's not a problem.  I think they get used to each other when they are always together.  We have an extra room (guest room), but I don't plan on splitting them up anytime in the future.

I would definitely only do one nursery.  If you end up having problems w/ them waking each other up, you could move one crib (or PNP) in another room to see if that helps.  I couldn't keep up w/ laundry & stocking changing tables in 2 rooms.

  • 1 nursery. They'll share a room until their much older. I could separate them but I don't want too.

  • we had room so we did two while we had some extra time...thank goodness we did. At the time, everyone was like, 'why are you doing two nurseries? they are twins and will want to be together'

that may be the case with some twins but ours could care less if they are together or not....it doesn't comfort them to be together anymore than if they are apart.

They are both already in their own cribs, they slept in a pnp in our room for about a week and clearly were not comfortable, so we tried their cribs and they have been doing fantastic ever since.

so if you have the room and money..i'd vote for 2 :-)

  • Ours are in the same room and we use the Homedics Sound Spa to create some white noise which helps drown out the noise when one cries so the other does not always get up.

This, totally.  My boys will share a room, toys, a car, and everything for the rest of their lives. We can't afford two of stuff. Big Smile
