We just moved back to SA from being away for about 6 years (yay Military). Now that we have a LO, I would love to do the "pumpkin patch picture". Where is everyone planning on going? I've only ever bought SA pumpkins from HEB :-)
Love Creek Orchard has a fabulous pumpkin patch every year. Carter had a blast... they have hay rides, a petting zoo, pumpkin painting, scare crow decorating, and great places to take pictures.
Love Creek Orchard is awesome but is also a bit of a drive (about an hour and a half if I remember correctly).
It also gets crazy crowded on the weekends. For little ones that just want a pumpkin and to see the animals it is manageable. My oldest wanted to do one of those "fill the plastic jar with colored sand" activities. We had to wait 40 minutes in line to pay something like $6 for it. Basically, if you want to do anything "extra" prepare to stand in a line and pay $$. Also would recommend a blanket to sit on - as you can imagine, it is hard to find a place to sit with that many people.
We took our middle school church group to Devine Acres last year and it was a lot of fun! There was plenty of activities and the place is so large that it doesn't feel crowded. There was pumpkin picking/painting, fly fishing, an area to dress scarecrows, a place to sift through rocks and find "treasure" and sooo much more. Yes, some of these things required a couple of extra dollars and food cost money too. But it was a full day that turned out to be a lot of fun.

Glad to see a good review on this one - we already have plans to try it out on Sunday!

I would highly recommend.

If you're wanting to stay a little closer to SA I recommend these:
Ford Family Farm-- Lots to see and do...pumpkins, hayride, general store, tractor train, etc. It's located in cibolo.
UMC Bracken Pumpkin Patch- Located just past Rolling Oak Mall on Nacogdoches Rd on the NE side.
Milberger's Nursery- Near 1604 and Judson I think, NE Side.
UMC Bulverde-- Another pumpkin patch located more North Central.
St. Thomas Episcopal Church- Located off 1604, between Stone Oak and 281. North Central.
University Methodist Church-- De Zavala & Vance Jackson (just pumpkins, not much scenery).
HTH!

There's also the South Texas Maize
911 US Highway 90 East
Hondo, TX 78891
We're going there with our playgroup in a couple weeks. They have lots of stuff there too.
I went to this one Saturday night and thought it was fun! Definitely a lot for kids to do there...
