I know its been talked about on here before but I can't find it. Anyone know what/ if anything can be done for acid at night? I not only get heart burn but I wake up choking with the acid/vomit in my mouth making me cough. I cough until I can get a little out and then it feels better. But its gross and kind of scary because I feel like i can't breath. It wakes me up every night no matter what I eat for dinner. Is this normal? I asked my Dr. and he told me to take Zantac which isn't doing anything. Anyone know of anything else that works? TIA
Re: acid waking you up
I sleep propped up on pillows and take tums or pepcid complete as needed. I mostly take the tums for HB during the day and only resort to the pepcid complete when it get's pretty bad...which is about half of the time...lol.
OMG I had this towards the end...it was AWFUL! and scared my dh to death!
I had to watch how much I ate for dinner...and I am talking hours before I would go to sleep. I had to keep my meals very very small and frequent and not eat at least 4 hours before bedtime.
Usually OTC prevacid would be helpful but I found it really depended on the amount of food I ate...if I ate a big meal, it would be really bad. but the smaller the meals...the less it happened or it wouldn't be as severe.
good luck!
