I checked SSA and it says that Maxine was last ranked at 984 in 1996. I really like the name (my great aunts name). Am I alone in liking it?..

It's my grandma's sisters name. I love her so much Listening to her & my grandma bicker is one of the funniest things I have ever heard.

It's nms, but it's a nice name.  Plus if your daughter turns out to be a tomboy she can go by Max!  I've always liked that nickname.

Yeah, me too.  I only know one Maxine (she's probably in her 40's) and she goes by Maxie. I feel like that name is just a recipe for teasing.

I think it's adorable. There is a bit of a tease factor with it, but I just can't think of anything much cuter than a little girl nicknamed Max. Plus, it makes me think of Maxine from Picket Fences - I loved that show!

It is a cute name, but just a warning, the first thing I thought of was that crotchety old lady in the Hallmark Shoebox cards/products who is always referring to her saggy boobs and menopause!  On the plus side, most kids would have no idea of this reference, so it is not like she would really be teased about it, and I DO like the name!

This doesn't make me think old lady at all. It makes me think of the song Perfect Gentleman "Maxine, put your red shoes on, we're going to the disco"

Also John Legend has a song about a girl named Maxine.

I really like it. ?My husband wouldn't agree to it. ?I brought it up with our first child (we were team green) but we ended up having a boy anyway and named him Maxwell. ?I really like Max as a nn for Maxine. ?People did also tell me that it reminded them of the hallmark old lady but I had never made that reference until other people told me that.
