I love my little sis more than I can even say, but what an adjustment since she moved in with DH and me! Very strange to be suddenly "parenting" a 17/almost 18 year old.
This week was so draining- school social workers, therapists, SAT fee waivers and my own graduate school courseload. DH and I agreed that I would take the semester off from working after we closed our retail business in August, and I am thanking God I did- it is such craziness.
Today we went shopping for supplies for her AP Bio project-she has to construct a model of a nucleus(?) which is going to be pink, purple and turquoise-and then I dropped her off at her boyfriend's house for the afternoon and her BCP fell out of her pink bunny backpack and into my car. Ooops:)
DH and I are going to take a long weekend to go to the new Harry Potter theme park in Orlando sometime around my birthday this month. I'm not KU yet, and I think HP and some Disney fun are just what the doctor ordered, considering the month we've had!
At least when I do get KU, I will have had plenty of practice for when LO enters her/his late teens:)
Re: Suddenly Parenting a 17-Year Old-Not TTGPR
Wow! It does sound like you've got your hands full! DH and I are going to Universal this weekend for the first time since HP opened, so I am excited to check it out since the weather is getting cooler!

It's so good to hear from you. I was just wondering how you were doing. Sounds like you're still adjusting. But, you are doing the right thing. And your are setting a great example for you sister, which she needs right now. Hang in there...things will get better.
How's the TTC? I mean now that your sister is there are you making any time for you and DH?
It was super crazy busy when it opened, and there was reports for a few weeks of people passing out from the heat, so we decided to wait until it was cooler and not so packed. I will definitely let you know how it is!

Well, the TTC is difficult right now- we are trying where we can. Her bedroom is right next to ours (very small house) so weekends when she's out and about are really the only time we have any privacy. So we're trying, but just figure it will happen whenever it happens right now.
It's actually not bad, other than that-the main thing is she is *safe*-my Mom would drive drunk with her in the car, and not know where she was until all hours, and even though it is not 100% ideal situation, that peace of mind alone is very precious to me and DH. We had offered my sis to come live with us for years earlier, but she was always very resistant, wanted to stay with Mom.
