3rd Trimester

what could this be?possibly tmi

Just a quick question. I have been having some cramping down by the bikini line and a little bit in my lower back as well, but they are not very painful just uncomfortable. I also have been getting these shooting/stabbing pains in my vag. They are really quick and gone just as fast as they came but I wanted to know are these shooting/stabbing pains causing dilation? Or are they just nothing to bother about. I am not having internals so I have no idea what type of progress I am  making if any.I have a MW appointment tomorrow afternoon but I just wanted to see what you ladoes thought as well. TIA

  • I've heard this called lightning crotch lol!

It can't hurt to mention to your MW, but from my experience it's nothing but a discomfort that comes along with pregnancy.

  • Commonly known as "lightning crotch", it's very common in late pregnancy and doesn't necessarily mean dilation.  Just another fun side effect!

  • There isn't a way for any of us to tell whether or not the pain you are experiencing is causing dilation.

I would ask your Midwife when you see her tomorrow.  Is there a reason you aren't having internals??  That would be the only way to check for dilation......

  • sounds like just another one of the great things about pregnancy. You can always mention it to your MW tomorrow but most likely it means nothing.

  • Ahh, lightning crotch. My OB (and my own research) said that it's either the baby having its way with your cervix or it can be caused by your pelvis opening and ligaments stretching and making room for baby to shoot through.
