Parenting after a Loss

Millenium Poll

Yes, I know it's random, but what were you doing when we counted down to midnight on new years eve 1999?

Remember how no one knew if we were going to lose power, internet, clocks etc, because of everything ending in 00? Well, I was at a party at my cousin's house. and in their living room, they have a lightswitch that controls the lights and power for the entire living room. So as soon as the ball dropped an it was officially 2000, he flipped that switch and the whole room went dark, TV went off etc. Everyone was dead silent for about 2 seconds till we heard him laughing and he turned the switch back on!

  • I was a senior in HS so I was at a big new years party.

DH was one of the crazy ones that was in Las Vegas!

  • I actually don't remember what I was doing on the actual New Years Eve but I do know that 2 weeks later my college roomates and I all had a Millenium party so we could celebrate it together.  It was a great time although I can't say I remember very much of it :)

  • Packing for my trip to Australia and New Zealand.  That's right, I flew around the world on Jan 1, 2000!  Clearly, I didn't believe the hype.
  • I was at home with my then-husband.  Our DD was asleep in bed (she was 1 1/2) and we were having champagne in our living room, laughing at the fact that we knew people who were stocked up on food and water to last them like 10 years.

We obviously didn't believe the hype either.

  • Mine is super-lame: I was watching CNN.  I was visiting my family for the holidays - they had recently moved and I didn't know anyone there.  I felt like a total loser!

FYI- I didn't believe all the hype about computers crashing and all the other crazy stuff, my friends convinced me we were going to lose power at midnight. so sad i believed them.
