npr Ever have awful workouts?

I'm trying to get back in shape and have been really proud of how well I'm doing.  But today I just had no energy and couldn't even finish my simplest work out (just 30 min on elliptical). 

I'm the kind of person that gets discouraged and gives up easily on fitness stuff so please tell me it is okay to have an off day and that tomorrow (25 min run) will be better!

  • Absolutely! Every workout is not going to be perfect.  Some days you have a great workout, and other days not so much.  If it's humid it can have a lot to do with it ... your energy level that day, time in your cycle, etc. etc.  The important thing is that you worked out!  Some days I skip all together. 
  • It happens all the time. I will run an easy 6miles one day and then a couple of days later I can't even do 2. For me so much of it is mental and if I'm not there mentally then there is no point of me even being there.

  • well, i rarely make it to the gym these days.  that's an awful workout at its worst.  back in the day when i worked out all the time i definitely had low energy days where i just dragged.  it will be better the next time.  good for you for going.
