Ok, so while I am extremely grateful to everyone in my life that took the time to pick out things to adorn my child with BUT I'm sorry there are so many things I recieved that I am NEVER going to put her in that are completely ugly. SOOOO I took back a bag of ugly baby clothes from Macys and returned them today to my surprise I got $75 of store credit....so I bought myself MAC makeup

Yay!
Re: returned ugly baby stuff

I like you.
and this is why I love you.
::dies::
hahaha
Don't worry, I'm sure people do it all the time:
I did think about it and I looked around for some stuff I could get her but everything they had they also had at BRU and we have so much store credit (from duplicates we recieved) and a ton of gc's PLUS i keep getting a ton of barely worn hand me downs from my cousin's baby that I figured I still have more than enough for baby.
LMAO!

HAHA!!
That's different. I got a lot of duplicate clothes (Carters only has so many styles) and I returned some of them to Target and ended up buying crib sheets with the gift card. I still thanked them for the clothes, and since it's duplicates, they'll never know I returned them.
I'm surprised that there was $75 of "ugly" baby stuff. I've gotten some baby clothes that are not my style (leopard print on a newborn?) but it's still cute, in its way, and I'm sure when I'm rushing to find a new onesie after a 3 a.m. blowout, I won't care so much if it's got leopard print on it or not.
This exactly. WTF?
I'm sorry but that's being a bit selfish, I would never!! I agree with the person who said "are you going to take their bday money and go on a shopping spree" You should be saving that credit for future clothing you may need.
&&&&& to top it off makeup????? Whatever makes you feel more confident about yourself I guess.....
I don't see what the big deal is. So what if PP used store credit from baby gifts to buy make-up? Would it have made a difference if she'd held on to the store credit (to buy stuff for baby later) and bought makeup for herself with cash? And then later on used the store credit for baby? This way she used the store credit at Macy's for something she wanted from Macy's and can use the cash that she saved from the makeup to buy baby stuff somewhere else. Gifts are gifts. I don't think they get to have strings attached. I might not have posted on here about it, but I really don't understand why people are so appalled.

Cause you know, babies don't grow or anything.
I'm sure your LO will stay in 0-3 and 3-6 months clothes for at least a year.

this exactly! i can see you returning things that are not your style and getting things that you like, or even spending the money on an expensive baby toy/activity that you wouldn't have bought if you had to spend your own money; but to spend $75 on make-up for yourself seems kind of selfish to me!
WOW - Super tacky and I find it hard to believe that BRU carries the same as Macy's - outside of a few Carters items I have been very unimpressed with our BRU clothing selection and I've spent $$ at Macy's. I have exchanged/returned quite a bit to Target, BRU and Macys and have used the credits for other baby-related items, as the original gifter intended. Heck, I find myself using gift cards that I received for my own birthday for LO, it's much more fun to buy for him than my fat arse right now!
