I am in my 6th week (I think) and I have my first doctor's appointment tomorrow. I am SO nervous and can't stop thinking "what if I'm not really pregnant?" or "What if there isn't a heartbeat?" I've taken like 10 pregnancy tests but I am still just so nervous.
What should I expect tomorrow? I know that I am going to ask about the flu shot but I am trying to think of what other questions I should ask. AHHH!
Re: My turn for an U/S
Your fears are natural! The best advice I can offer is DON'T WORRY! Easier said than done I know...aside from doing your part common sense stuff like eating right, drinking loads of water...you really don't have a lot of control over what happens here. (Odds are usually in our favor though.) Understanding that (not having control) can be incredibly hard to accept. When you feel yourself get nervous try some breathing exercises that can help bring you back to a present state of mind.
As far as your appt tomorrow, usually they will book an appointment to get all your past and present medical history, info on any serious genetic family medical history that may pose a risk to baby. Pretty much all paper work. At my first appointment they didn't even perform a physical. Pretty anti-climatic! I was really looking forward to hearing a heartbeat! If you can...try to enjoy the process and try hard not to project out to the "what if's". Before you know it you will be holding a beautiful baby in your arms and all those scary thoughts will be a distant memory.
Best of luck on your journey!
