I was told today that my DS's left kidney has excessive fluid around it. Has anyone else experienced this and what happened? Thanks so much for your help!
I had this too, at my 32 week ultrasound. They sent me to the perinatal center (where they monitor high risk pregnancies) for a follow up ultrasound. The fluids were still high at week 33, but so the doctor wanted to check them again at week 36. By week 36, the fluids were normal and they told me it wasn't a concern anymore. Both my doc and the one at the perinatal center emphasized to me to not worry- 99.9% of the time, the problem will correct itself.
What did your doctor recommend? Will you be doing any follow up ultrasounds? My best advice is to not freak out! In my case, it was nothing, and it sounds like that is usually the case. Good luck!
Thanks so much! That makes me feel a whole lot better. My dr wants me to have a weekly ultrasound and wants me to go see a pediatric urologist with pictures of the fluid around his kidney to see what he recommends.

His fluid is around his kidney
My friend had that with her baby boy that was born this past March. It went away after a month or so, they just kept an eye on it.
They told her it was pretty common in boys?
I hope it all goes away, try not to stress about it.
