Is it too late?

I'm almost 32 weeks pregnant is it too late to sign up for prenatal classes? I'm aware i should have signed up sooner but my husband has an "on call job" and he is the only one who could go with me, so I decided not to. Now i changed my mind. I'm not too late am I? and has anyone else taken prenatal classes alone?

I didn't take prenatal classes alone when I was pg w/ DS, however I remember taking them when I was around 30 weeks, so I don't think you're too late!  Call wherever the classes are being held though and make sure, you want to secure a spot for the most recent class--they fill up fast!

i dont think its too late in your pregnany to sign up but i think it really depends on the place you go and if they have openings.  i know where id like to take classes had told me their next one prbly wont start until nov (im due dec 21).

I am 31 weeks and we just started ours this week. Our class is 5 weeks long but they also offer a all day class that is usually on the weekend and other places offer 4 week classes. The issue may just be getting into a class this late. Many of them fill up quickly. We registared a couple months ago

No, you're not too late!  You may have to shop around a bit for classes that aren't already full, depending on what you want to take, but IMO it will be totally worth it.

It totally depends on the type of class that you're looking for.  I'm in a Bradley Method class that's 12 weeks long, so yes, that would be too long for you (unless the teacher was willing to double up on a couple of weeks to accomodate you), but there were other classes that didn't go nearly that long.  There was a 3 week long one at the hospital, and I didn't actually find any classes using Lamaze where I live, but that doesn't mean they don't exist!  Anyway, do some googling, and check with your birthplace to see what they may have to offer!  (Oh, and even though my hubby is my "coach" for the classes I'm in, there have been a couple of times he wasn't able to make it.  In this type of class, that's not terrific, because we do all sorts of exercises and learn so much, but we've managed.)

It just depends what type of class you would like and if it is full.  I am taking my class this weekend at my hospital and I will be at the tail end of 35 weeks.  They pack a full class into a day and a half.  I picked that class because it would be easier for us than spreading the classes out for an hour or two over multiple weeks.

DH is going with me, but I would be willing to go alone if I needed to.  I took a one-night breastfeeding class and was the only one without a partner there, but felt really strongly after the class that he really didn't need to be there.  He already knows pretty much everything that we will cover in the upcoming class, but I just want him at the childbirth/child care class because I think he will help me to feel more comfortable.

Like others have said, it will depend on how full the classes are, so you will have to shop around a bit.  There is a lady in the class I am taking that is due this week and the classes aren't due to end for another 3 weeks (it's a 6 week class).  I have found the information presented so far to be both interesting and very helpful, so even if you don't get to finish I think that it will be worth it to sign up.

If you find the classes are all filled, ask the hospital if they have an independent study class.  I'm on bedrest and have done a few classes online, and they're not bad actually - there are booklets to read, videos to watch, things to print, etc.  It's also way cheaper.  Though I think I would have preferred to actually go to a class rather than doing it by my big girl self at home.

I think that you should go to a childbirth class, even if you have to go alone.

shouldn't be, i signed up when i was about 32 weeks and they still had room for me. if there isn't room then they will probably try and work something out for you to be able to fit in them.
