Opinions on G diapers

Are they a good value? Do they leak? Are they a good for getting into CD?

My friend has expressed a desire to CD but because she lives with her MIL, and the MIL does not like the idea of poopy diapers in MIL washer, my friend has backed out of CDing. I was thinking that G diapers would be good as a way to CD without having to "mess up" her MILs washer.

I think if you're doing only the disposable inserts - not good value.   We use them with gcloth and really like them.   I've just started trying Flips (another hybrid) and prefer g's so far...but, maybe the flips have a learning curve...I'm still getting used to them.

I used them on a vacation. The problem I have is that the cover isn't waterproof. If you put them on incorrectly, have a bad fit, or it moves around while on, you can get a leak.

If you are looking at hybrid solutions, I really like the Grovia biosoakers. They have built in gussets which really contain the poop/pee and you can use them in any cover. I use them in Thirsties covers.

we are a completely G family. And if she dunks the gcloth in the toilet or gets a diaper sprayer, there really wont be any poop at all in the washer. Im surpised at her MIL's reaction. Im sure in "her day" all they had was cloth... very strange.

I didn't mind my gdiapers, although they're not my first choice. I never had any leak problems and they held in EBF poo. But IMO they're not a good value if you're only using the disposable inserts.

We really like them! we only have 2 right now (waiting on the rest to be delivered!) so we use Thirsties (that a friend gave us) & regular disposables. personally i think the Thirsties are crap....everytime i put them on her they leak! i've tried tightening them, etc. but nothing works. i love the gdiapers though! we've only used the cloth inserts so far but have the disposable liners too. we'll use those if we go somewhere where we can't clean the cloth ones right away. every now & then we have some pee or poo on the outside portion, but thats only if we didn't get it tight enough for some reason or if she's just had a massively explosive poo, in which case there's really nothing you can do! i suggest getting a set & trying them out for yourself to see how you like them. that's what we did & have made the decision to stick with them!

We use them with gcloth and love them. I just reviewed them on my blog. Only time we had leaks was either a. user error (gotta make sure they're in the crease of her legs!) or b. when she needed to move up to mediums from the smalls. Otherwise, zero problems!
