What do we need for DS come winter?
Obviously, Alabama winters aren't anything like a winter up in Maryland. Last year, we got by with a sweatershirt material type coat.
DH says the key to dressing in the winter is layers. How does that work with a toddler?
Will we need a snow suit? Could you recommend a heavy coat?
Thanks. It's awfully embarrassing to not know this stuff. I'm going to a consignment sale this weekend and am hoping to stock up.
Re: Super silly but, indulge me for a second.
You aren't supposed to put kids in car seats with bulky sweaters or coats. There have been instances where, after an accident, the child slid out of the seat from the force and the jacket/sweater was still strapped in. What I've read is to have a blanket with you to cover them up once you strap them in.
Outside of the car, a snowsuit probably would be a waste of $. We had 2 big storms last year, but that doesn't happen often. I would find a nice heavy jacket that looks easy to get on and off, a couple of hats, and some mittens/gloves, if you think he would actually keep them on. Winters here can vary from year to year, but it can get really cold. A consignment shop is a great idea.
Of course last year I had a NB so we just kept him in sleepers, strapped him into the carseat with a hat and then surrounded him with blankets.
Happy Birthday, little man. We love you so much!
My favorite money saving tip: I've earned more than $300 in gift cards (Amazon, Starbucks, Southwest!) using SwagBucks for internet searching - and you can too! It's FREE and EASY!
Thankfully, I am well aware of the coat rule with carseats. But, thank you for the reminder. I think it could be easy for someone to forget!
I would probably skip the snowsuit unless you see one that is just a great deal and you can't pass it up.....last year was a freak year and we got a lot of snow, but usually we don't get very much.
Make sure you get him a couple cute warm hats, mittens and a winter jacket and that should cover you pretty well.
