Technically, Ariel is a boys name...Arielle is the feminine. Disney hacked it, and it's just gone downhill from there. Unless they were religious reasons (it's a Hebrew name), I'd avoid using it for either.

Devauhn...anyone else pronouncing it like Deh Von with major emphasis?

It may be Hebrew in origin, but Ariel is a somewhat commonly used name for boys in the Spanish-speaking world.
