Formula question, not judgey :)

With the recall of similac a lot of moms have switched to another brand.

With formula do you switch to different ones to expose your LO to a variety of tastes, or is it pretty much pick one that works and stick with it?

Re: Formula question, not judgey :)

  • We had to supplement in the very beginning and then again at the very end (around 11 months), and we switched only because DD spit up so much with the first one we tried, once we made the switch and she tolerated it, we stayed with that one brand/type. I have never heard of switching to expose baby to more tastes, I imagine they all taste about the same.

  • Thankfully we didn't have to switch because our cans of similac weren't part of the recall, but when we were experimenting with formulas I tried the different ones within the same brand before switching brands.

We first switched from Similac Advance Early Shield to Good Start because she was a foster child and qualified for WIC and that's what WIC offered. She had a terrible time during the transition... turns out it was reflux. We switched back then tried Similac Sensitive RS and she improved. However even with a Rx, WIC wouldn't cover it because it has rice. We tried Alimentum, Nutramigen, and soy but she hated the taste and wouldn't eat so we switched back. She was off formula before the recall but other than the fact she refused some formulas, it was always whatever worked best and stick to it for us.

Really?  WIC covers any of the similacs here in TX except for the RTF unless you have a perscription...
