LO is in a bassinet now (PnP) in our room for now. I was waiting for him to STTN. He's now on a pretty regular routine of 10pm to 4am, up to eat then back to bed until 7:30am. I think I'm soon going to start the transition into the crib in his own room. I like him being in the room though, so I think it may be more difficult for me than it will be for him.
LO slept in his Rock n play sleeper for the first 3 weeks, and has since been sleeping in his crib. I'm glad we got the Rock n Play because my LO likes to hang out in there while downstairs/at relatives house etc. Glad we didn't go the bassinet route.

We had DD in the PnP in our room for maybe a week. She's been in her crib since then. We moved the PnP downstairs, though, and it's nice to have for diaper changes.
I have both, during the day LO sleeps in her bassinet because it is in the living room and that is where I am the majority of the time. At night she sleeps in her crib which is in my room (if it wasn't I would have another bassinet). If you are limited on space I would say just use a crib. I got my bassinet used because I could not just justify spending that kind of money on something she will only use for a couple of months.
DD slept in a PnP in our room till she was 2 months old...we then moved her to her crib which she's loving! I wanted to move her to it sooner but DH wouldn't "cut the cord" and agree to it. :P
Our LO sleeps in a PnP in our room. He'll move to his crib eventually. I like the PnP because it's portable, you can take it to the grandparents house if you want.
DS sleeps in the Snuggle Nest between DH and I, and when he outgrows it we'll move him to the PNP in our room. I don't plan on moving him to his crib in the nursery until he's at least 6mos (our bedroom is on the second floor and the nursery is downstairs). He STTN (8ish to 5ish), and I attribute that mostly to co-sleeping.
We have a bassinet in our bedroom and a crib in her room. If you could borrow a bassinet that may be helpful to save money. I think once she is in more of a routine with sleeping we will move her to the crib.
We have DD in the cradle in our room now. I think when she's 2.5 to 3 months we'll move her to the crib in the nursery. She sleeps in her swing or bouncer during the day.
DD mostly sleeps in her crib. She's been stuffy this week so she's been in the Fisher Price Rock and Play sleeper to help drain things out. She also sometimes naps in her crib. We never bought a bassinet.
Crib in her own room at night. I couldn't sleep with all the little noises she makes. During the day she sleeps in her bouncy chair downstairs, because that's where I am.
No regrets. I knew a bassinet wouldn't work for us.
My DD sleeps in the Rock N Play for now. We will be transitioning to her crib soon.
This. My DH will be out of town some for the next month, so I am waiting until he is back before moving LO into the crib. I like the idea of him with me at night with daddy gone.
We started out using a bassinet, but LO has mild reflux and hates being on his back so we just bought the rock n play sleeper and he loves it! I wish we had bought it from the start! We also just started swaddling and that has helped get longer stretches of sleep.
