My mom bought them for DS quite awhile ago- like maybe 2 years ago? They're pretty cool, IMO, but DS doesn't love them. He played with them a bit but they're definitely not a favorite.

I would stick with traditional blocks. my kids received these for Christmas 2 years ago (from us/santa) and they are still a fave...esp with ds. he uses them daily. right now, they prefer them over the duplo sets. we're also debating getting the lincoln logs or legos ... but really they play with these so much, not sure if we will yet.
We don't have them, but just looking at them, I really think my 4.5 year old would love them. He is just now really getting interested in legos and blocks.

I can't see how you could go wrong with those, really.

we got them on sale closer to Christmas... I think we spent closer to $100 on them .. .definitely not $180. we do have the shelves and blocks set.
