Anyone out there have preeclampsia?

What were/are some of the symptoms you experienced? What was the outcome/remedy? I'm a little worried because I've had painful bloating in my hands, legs, and feet. I've also had at least 2 headaches a day, and have been vomiting all day today! I've been drinking TONS of water, and elevating my feet. Nothing seems to work.

  • Does the swelling go down after you sleep? Have you checked your blood pressure? I would definitely give your doctor a call and go in for a BP & urine check.

  • I had pre-e with #1.  I never really had much swelling.  It manifested itself in bad headaches, seeing stars, and light headedness when i did anything at all (even take a shower).  I basically felt like if I wasn't laying down, I would pass out.  Give your doc a call, and pick up a BP reader.  Good luck!  I ended up on bedrest at 32 weeks and was induced a few weeks later.

  • umm call your doctor if you haven't already. these are symptoms and you should at least have your bp and urine checked to make sure you're ok.
  • I was diagnosed at 26 weeks with preeclampsia. My particular case started with horrible headaches that wouldn't go away with Tylenol and rest, swelling in my hands and face, pain under my right bottom rib, blind spots in my vision, and my heart would race when I was sitting/lying still. I bought a bp monitor and my blood pressure had been staying at or above 160/100. I called my doctor, who had me come in to the hospital, where he kept me for 2 days to do a 24 hour urine sample and monitor my bp every 30 minutes. I've been on bedrest since 26 weeks (I'm at 29 1/2 now) and I have to visit my doctor once a week to check my urine and bp, and I'm expected to deliver early.

I would definitely suggest that you mention your symptoms to your doctor so he can check you out and get a bp cuff (if you don't already have one) so you can keep an eye on your blood pressure at home. If you do have preeclampsia, the only real cure is to deliver your baby. If they catch it early, your doctor can put you on bedrest and give you tips to keep you pregnant as long as possible! I hope I was able to help and good luck!
  • Thanks for all of the imput ladies! I called the OB & went to see her this morning. BP was slightly elevated, so now I'm officially on the 24 Hr pee test. Wish me luck!
