Get up and walk and soon as you can. I really helps with recovery.
Also, stay on top of your pain pills for the first 6-7 days. It will help in the long run. If you let you pain get out of control it will take forever to get it back under control.
Ask for some type of stool softener as it will make your first post c-section poop better (but it will still be super painful).
also walk as soon as you can after. just get up and brush your teeth. stand and stetch to look out the window in your room. anything to get your feet and legs moving!!!
I never took pain meds for my 1st c-section, so i can not say anything about that. i thought my c-section was pain free considering the pain I had been in with my back carrying the baby around!!
Ditto what everyone else said. Also, if possible have someone there to help you (dh, your mom, whomever) the first week you are at home. My recovery was pretty easy and I felt pretty good right away, but it really helped to have help. Good luck!

Everything mentioned above plus if you have to cough or sneeze press a pillow into your incision, it really helps.
Walk, walk, walk deserves mentioning again.
Charge your camera so you have pics and ask someone to take them for you, like a nurse. My nurses were beyond awesome!!
Good luck!
