registry questions

I'm hoping some current mommies can help me out. 

How many sleep sacks should i register for?  (January baby in Michigan=cold)  Should i get a few newborns and then some smalls?  I like the Halo Sleepsacks but am open to other brands. 

 

What about swaddles?  Should i just do blankets or get the ones that are already formed with velcro etc.?  Also, how many?

I would honestly only buy about 2 sleep sacks and 2 swaddles because your baby may not like them.

Both of my sons hated the swaddles, but they loved the sleep sacks.

So, for now, I would just put a couple of each on the registry.....and I would just get the newborn size until you know for sure if the baby likes it! I really liked the Halo ones

Also, the BEST swaddles are the receiving blankets that you get in the hospital!! Steal a bunch before you leave

I would just get a couple like the pp suggested. The few times I did swaddle I just used regular blankets. When I moved them to their cribs, I used the same blankets and covered them from the waist down. Now they move around so much, we put them in sleep sacks. We have four in case they spit up or leak.

I don't know if you could register for them, but I highly recommend the miracle blanket for swaddling.  Even if you got one at first to see if the kid enjoys it.

We didn't use the sleep sacks until he was a bit older. I liked the swaddles better than using a blanket to swaddle.  I would just register for a couple (maybe one in each size?) until you find out what you & baby prefer.

I love Halo Sleepsacks and swaddles!  The Halo ones are both a sleepsack and a swaddler, so you can use it are either.  I think they are a lot safer and easier to use then regular blankets for swaddling.  I'd recommend getting 2 or 3 in newborn and 2 or 3 in small, just depending on how often you want to do laundry.
