3rd Trimester

37+ weekers... question...

What has gotten you through from 32 weeks til now? A friend just reached her 32nd week of being a surrogate mother and she's like done already and I cannot for the life of me remember how I got through the last 7 weeks of my pregnancy (I'd gained almost all my weight in the last 10 weeks, had painful/bleeding stretch marks, back pain from a non-related injury worsened and PUPPPs)... What words of advice or encouragement can I give her?  TIA!

  • I've got stretch marks, back pain and PUPPS...you just suck it up and realize that it all comes to an end eventually. Whine and biitch as much as you want and find comfort in food. ;)

  • It helps if you're really busy and/or nesting. I felt pretty good up to 36 weeks. I've been cleaning the house like crazy, organizing closets and cupboards, and fiddling in the nursery. Now I'm really starting to hurt with the back pain, braxton hicks, and not sleeping. Just know that you WILL get there. I'm very ready to go whenever LO is ready!

  • Ok, I'm not 37 weeks and I never was with DD, so I don't have experience.  I wasn't really uncomfortable when DD was born at 35 weeks.  This time around, a little more so, but I'm trying not to complain.  When I find myself complaining, I remind myself that LO needs to stay put til at least 37 weeks.  Just keep reminding your friend that making it to full-term is the goal, depsite all the aches and pains and crap that comes along with the end of pregnancy!

  • I agree with PPs.  You just have to deal with it, complain to someone who cares (my DH understands if I complain at times), and enjoy the time before LOs are born - eat, sleep, rest, and do things you won't have time to do when LOs are born (scrapbook, etc).  I am currently 34 1/2 weeks with twins and have been pretty uncomfortable for at least a month, but I realize that going to term is the best for my babies.  I just pray each day for the patience and strength to get through the day.
  • Is she working ? I'm not to 37 weeks yet, but I think working has been the very best thing for me. I've picked up extra hours at work, so I'm staying active, busy and enjoying social interaction. It has really helped the time fly. My boss keeps asking if I want to cut hours, but I think I'd go completely stir crazy at home.
