3rd Trimester

2nd+ x mommies...

Yes, this is my 2nd and I know everyone is different, but I don't remember... On average, how long do you usually bleed after giving birth? TIA

Edited to add: While breastfeeding

Re: 2nd+ x mommies...

  • I had very heavy bleeding for over a month and moderate bleeding for about 2 months post partum.  Not looking forward to that again....

  • Hmm, this is my third and I can't for the life of me remember either.  Funny how we forget about all that stuff later.  It seems like it was a week or so of heavy and then started to taper off...but I wouldn't quote me.  And I do remember that with my first it was more and I had some clots to deal with.

Sorry I can't be more help.

  • If memory serves... I bled pretty heavily for a couple of weeks and it took a month or so for it it taper off completely.
  • I guess I'm one of the few that didn't while breastfeeding with my 2nd. We will see this time.

  • The first week was a bit heavy, but it tapered off quickly after that.  I think I was all done with the bleeding/spotting by week three.

It is crazy how we forget these things!

  • I don't remember exactly. I had bought a bunch of pads to prepare for it in advance, but I don't remember using them for long. Maybe a week or so?  But then I had to have a c/s... does that make a big difference?

  • I had heavy bleeding for about 10 days or so and then periodic bleeding for another couple weeks.  Was done by a month pp, if I remember right.
  • almost 6 weeks for me.
  • I think I finally stopped bleeding altogether by my 6 week appointment.

  • I think about 3 weeks? Only heavy while in the hospital... I had a c/s though and I think they "clean you out" a little.
