Hi all! I just started working across the freeway from Baylor Grapevine and was wondering if anyone here had delivered there? Or knew anyone with any kind of experience there. It is not a huge hospital but my family is known for having normal births unless twins are involved.
Please let me know if you know anything about this hospital.
Thanks!
Re: Delivering at Baylor Grapevine
I delivered my son at Baylor Grapevine and absolutely LOVED it. The hospital is so nice, the L&D staff is very attentive and helpful, the postpartum rooms are private and well equipped. You can see your baby through the nursery window (for visitors to watch baths, etc.) - which is nice... I did not have that luxury when I delivered DD in Wash, DC (they blacked out the windows for security reasons??). Its also nice that Target is across the street, lots of decent quick restaurants for take out, easy access to the highway, etc. I will never deliver another baby anywhere else - I absolutely loved it.
I *think* I remember them saying they have an anesthesiologist reserved just for the L&D floor... I can't remember for sure, but I'm pretty sure that's what they said. I asked for my epidural and got it less then 15 minutes later (I waited 12 hours in DC).
Yes, its a smaller hospital, but its well equipped for deliveries - I think its a great suburban hospital. For more serious issues (not usually related to L&D) I'd recommend somewhere in Dallas where they are more readily-available resources in plethora. But for this type of thing, its wonderful care. As in - I'm so excited about going back...
Who is your OB?
Married: '06 - Mom of 3 boys: '08, '11 & '14
Great! My OB is in the same practice - its a great practice.
Good luck - I'm sure you'll love it there.
I have seen Dr. Wai my entire pregnancy and absolutely love him, so easy to talk to. We are set to deliver in a few weeks and have full confidence in him. He will be my Ob/Gyn from here on out.
I delivered at Baylor Grapevine in April; Dr. Kilianski is my doctor. I was induced and had to have a c-section due to my baby's size. DS was in the NICU for 6 days because of low blood sugar.
That being said, I love Baylor Grapevine. The nurses were great, the facilities are so nice, and I really enjoyed my stay there. We had one issue with a NICU nurse (she kept changing DS's feeding schedule without telling us, so we missed a few of his feedings), but we told the charge nurse and she made sure we didn't have that nurse anymore. I really loved my recovery nurses. They were a great comfort to me when I was emotional wreck over DS being in the NICU (it was something that caught me completely off guard). I hope that I can deliver my future children at Baylor.
Another rave for Dr. Robert Wai and Baylor Grapevine. Could not have had a better experience with either of them. Love both and would recommend both in a heartbeat. : )
I loved everything about it there! The nurses were very attentive and helpful. The lactation consultants did everything they could to make breastfeeding successful (despite DS's alterior motives). I will definitely deliver there in the future!
I didn't care for the food, but I'm kind of a picky eater. I can't choose between egg salad and pork loin for lunch when I don't eat either one! Luckily there are lots of good places to eat nearby and DH was willing to run to get real food.
And the photographer lady was kind of pushy and annoying, but I think that's the same at every hospital. And I used the snipping tool on Windows 7 to steal the digital images for free (they were pretty terrible so I wouldn't have paid for them, but I was sad that there were pictures of DS floating around that I didn't have).
I wanted to add, in case anyone is still checking this thread - Baylor Grapevine has a Level 3 NICU, which is WONDERFUL.
Just an FYI... I just found out from a friend whose baby was there for 3 weeks and before that, I didn't know what their NICU was like.
