I just switched from disposables to CDs and he got a rash on the first week!
I reminded my husband who is with him today to change him more promptly.
Is there a diaper cream I can use to clear it up faster or is it better to let it clear on its own?
Re: and now he has a diaper rash
we have California Baby diaper rash cream. Its CD safe, and you can get it at target.
i'm sorry you are having a rough go of it
What type of diapers are you using? I know some babies have a reaction to the material BGs are made out of.
Dude, these diapers are conspiring against me to make me look bad in front of DH after I made this look like a cakewalk.
I have the BG AIO OS. I'm going to order some different ones today to try them out.
I have several BG AIOs and no rash issues. I agree about California Baby for rashes. I also use Bum Bum Balm for regular use.
A few things that come to mind:
-What detergent are you using and how much? Are you doing a double rinse at the end? Are you checking to make sure there are no suds left?
-Change more frequently, as you said. This could easily be the problem.
-Suede cloth. - BGs are lined with suede cloth, not fleece. Some babies (although not many) have a sensitivity to suede cloth. If you order more diapers, get a stay dry fleece lining and see if that makes any difference.
-Try fleece liners. It would help if he has a sensitivity to suede cloth, it will help for keep him drier, and its always a good idea when slathering on the rash creme (even if its CD safe, I still use liners).
Good luck! It isn't always this hard.
I don't get it. I've been using the same cloth diapers and detergent for months now but never more than a few hours a day. I finally convinced MIL and DH who alternate taking care of him days to go full time and after two days, he got a diaper rash.
I'll try the fleece, thanks.
Hmm... odd that its only now causing an issue since you've been using them part-time before now. Ask them how often they're changing him. Sometimes my DH forgets to change her frequently and her tush looks a little pink until the next diaper change or two.
There are BG AIOs that are sized - they have microsuede just like the BG 3.0 OS and 4.0s.
Never even thought about this! He has had lots of drool lately and keeps scratching his gums. Nothing has broken through yet but I am pretty sure it is teething.
If I were you I would try CA baby cream and chalk it up to a teething rash
She said she has the BG AIO OS, which, I believe, are the Elementals, which are organic. I do not think BG makes a OS AIO with micro suede. I think only the sized AIOs have micro suede.
It's the all in one, one size and they are organic.
Okay, I was reading and understanding correctly.
If it's not a
teething rash (which I had not thought of either b/c my baby is not
teething yet....), then I would try a different detergent or use fleece
liners to keep him dry. What detergent are you using?
Bumgenius. I am definitely trying a fleece liner. This board is full of good idea!
