Quick BLW Question

We just started the process of BLW and I'm reading "Baby-Led Weaning" by Rapley and Murkett and they don't address this question... I'm wondering if any of you can.

I noticed that my LO just sucks on the food given to her.  There's no chewing motions or anything like that.  Is that a sign that she's not ready yet?   She definitely seems interested in the foods we're giving to her, but I'm just not 100% sure she's ready if she's not even making the motions to chew.

Any advice would be appreciated!

They actually talk about how this is a way that babies get vitamins out of the food.  Look at where they talk about meat, they say it is a way for baby to ingest iron.  You will be surprised at what you find in your babies diaper in a few days.
