My calves and ankles are extremely swollen!! I had my baby on the 23rd - things were fine until yesterday when I noticed they were like, twice the size they normally are. Since I was still at the hospital yesterday (I am a repeat c-section patient) I asked the nurses about it... even asked the doctor about it today... they said it's "normal" so I guess I shouldn't worry since they aren't worried.
However, I don't remember having this with either of my prior pregnancies. So it made me curious - anybody else have ankle/leg/foot swelling a few days after they gave birth? If so, how long did it last?
Re: Anybody else get massive ankle swelling AFTER having baby??
I had very minimal swelling during my pregnancy. It got a little worse while in the hospital but when I got home...holy crap. You literally couldn't see my ankle bones and it seemed as though my entire legs were a bit swollen. I felt like I was wearing a fat suit from the waist down.
The swelling was pretty bad for about 4-5 days but gradually got better and was totally gone by a week and 1/2. I also had an IV pumping tons of stuff into me for over 40 hours so I was retaining a ton of fluid.
this! ouch!
Me too! My feet were so huge that I could barely wear flip-flops.

This. Mine were so bad that I ended up in the ER and was put on Lasix pills to flush the fluid.
i did. along with that i had visual disturbances.
ended up getting diagnosed with preeclampsia after delivery.
had to be readdmitted into the hospital and put on a mag sulfate drip.
if you notice anything else strange, definitely call the dr again.
my dr said swelling after was normal too, but combined with the visual disturbances it was symptoms of pre-e.
