Question regarding RE apt

DH and I have been TTC for 8 months. My cycles vary in length and I have been experiencing mid-cycle spotting the past few cycles. I will be turning 30 in two weeks had an apt with my ob/gyn last week and she is sending me to a RE b/c she thinks i should get things checked out and a plan in place. I was surprised because from what I read you usually get referred to one after a year but I am happy to maybe get some answers..

Anyone go to a RE before they hit the year mark?

What happens at your first apt?

    Yes, I been TTC since January 2010 and my Ob/Gyn referred me to a RE.  I'm not sure if all REs follow the same process but my experience was tons of medical history questions for me & DH. 

    I had a pelvic exam, a vaginal ultrasound and b/w done. 

    We met in his office to talk about a plan and ask questions. GL at your appointment!!

    My referral came before the one year mark, but we were on month 12 by the time we started testing.  The first appt is usually just a giant pile of paperwork and medical history.  I had my initial infertility bloodwork done then too.

    2 years, 2 surgeries, 2 clomid fails, 2 IUIs, 1 loss, IVF #1 - 10/25/10 = BFP!, DS is now 3.5yrs!
    TTC #2 - 6/12 surgery #3, FET #1 & 1.2 = BFN, 12/2012 FET #2 = BFP! DD is 1.5 yrs!
    Surprise! 12/16/14 BFP, loss #2 12/31/14

    I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

    my first appt was just going over history and going over the testing he wanted to do. So far I'vd had blood work on cd2 and having a mid cycle u/s tomorrow then blood work at 7dpo and we'll go from there depending on how things turn out.
