Waste of money in my opinion. In fact, I think there are actually additional SIDS concerns with this monitor (read that on here somewhere, but admittedly have not done any research myself). Personally, I prefer a video monitor. You'll just get longer use and more peace of mind out of that with less false alarms.
It is the only reason I got any sleep when DD was first born. We have recommended to all of our friends, and those that have purchased it love it as well.
Someone on her said that her birthing class instructor told her that it increased the risk of SIDS. I have looked and could not find anything to back that up.
We just bought it b/c my SIL recommended it. I bought it because she said the reception is really good and is better than her video monitor. The one we have for DS is awful and has made noises and has so much static. I will use the sensor until the risk for SIDS goes down and than plan to turn the sensor off and use it strictly as a monitor.
Love it, Love it. I couldn't sleep if we didn't have it. I know people complain of false alarms but if you install correctly with a support that eliminates it. We didn't have a big enough support board at first and got some false alarms but since we fixed that, it has been great. And I believe it works. It has gone off for us a few times and each time we had an issue with DD. I am not sure how it adds to SIDS factor. I recommend for your peace of mind.
Re: Angelcare monitor
I love ours. In fact, we have 2 of them.
