Seeing that my babies are less than 4 weeks from their scheduled c-section date (October 22nd - 38 weeks), I wanted to do a survey to find out when your twins were born (how many weeks), how big they were, how they came (on their own, induced, c-section), how you went into labor (water breaking, contractions, or if you didn't - were induced/c-section), and if you had any issues/NICU time.

How I went into labor: I didn't. It was an emergency c-section.
Issues/NICU time: Luke was in the NICU for 23 days and Ella was in the NICU for 38 days.

My twins were born at 30w 6d
Twin A was 3 lb 10 oz
Twin B was 2 lb 2 oz (IUGR)
How they came: C-section
How I went into labor: No labor. C-section due to failing placenta and reverse flow of the cord in Baby B.
Issues/NICU time: Both boys were in the NICU 67 days. Lots of minor issues, nothing major.
My twins were born at 30 Weeks 2 Days
Twin A was 2lbs 9oz
Twin B was 2lbs 7oz
How they came: I developed HELLP and had to have an emergecy c section
How I went into labor: emergency C Section
Issues/NICU time: No major issues, they were just "feeders and growers" and spend about 60 days in NICU
Twin A was 6lbs 10oz
Twin B was 6lbs 8oz
How they came: Induced, tried for vaginal, gave up after 22 hours of labor w/ 3 hours of pushing and had a c-section.
How I went into labor: Induced (due to gestational diabetes + rising blood pressure)
Issues/NICU time: None. Will's first blood sugar reading was slightly low, but all the readings after that were fine.
My twins were born at 36w0d
Twin A was 4 lbs 9 oz, 19'' long
Twin B was 4 lbs 2 oz, 17 1/2'' long
How they came: C-section (had one scheduled for 37w0d because A was breech and B was transverse, but didn't make it that far)
How I went into labor: PTL starting at 22w1d. Hospital bedrest for about the next 7 weeks. 2 Steroid shots at 24w for lung development. Magnesium sulfate via IV plus varying doses of Procardia and terbutaline until about 27w, when the mag was dropped and I was on Procardia and terb only. Released to bedrest at home at 29w, home until 35w6d. All anti-contraction meds were discontinued at 36w0d (although I was still having quite a few contractions through the meds and was very slowly dilating), and labor quickly ensued. Babies were born the same day.
Issues/NICU time: Both had to go to the transition nursery for 6 hours after birth due to GA and weight. Both had low blood sugar, and when DS refused a bottle, they drained mucus out of his stomach. Then he took a bottle just fine. Neither needed breathing assistance. Both developed very slight jaundice that resolved before we left the hospital. They were not allowed to room-in overnight due to weight, and both had to pass a carseat test because of being under 5 lbs at discharge. All of us went home together.
They arrived at 36 weeks after PTL and bedrest for 14 weeks.
My twins were born at 31 weeks exactly
Twin A was a girl, weighed 3 lbs 2 oz
Twin B was a boy, weighed 3 lbs 6 oz
How they came emergency c-section due to A being transverse and B being vertex
How I went into labor premature rupture of membranes on A, tried to fight off contractions w/ magnesium sulfate...12 hours later I had csection
Issues/NICU time They were both put on cpap and had iv's inserted for nutrition. We didn't have any issues, they both did exactly what they needed to do. We stayed in the NICU around 45 days. A came home 3 days earlier than B.
My twins were born at: 37 weeks, 6 days
Twin A was: 6lbs, 9oz
Twin B was: 5lbs, 11oz
How they came: C-section
How I went into labor: Induction with pitocin...attempted vaginal delivery but ended up with c-section due to lack of progress and high bp.
Issues/NICU time: None
BFP Nov 09 - c/p Dec 09
BFP Dec 09 - A&J born in August 2010 at 37w, 6d
BFP Sept 11 - ectopic pregnancy/left tube removed
BFP April 12 - E born December 2012 at 39w, 1d
My twins were born at 37w6d, weighing 6 lbs 10 oz and 6 lbs 7 oz.
How they came: Vaginally (baby B by breech extraction)
How I went into labor: Scheduled induction
Issues/NICU time: None, really (thankfully). One didn't pink up right away so they took him away for a few minutes to give him O2. That was it.

Twin A was 4lbs 6 oz
Twin B was 5 lbs 9oz
How they came: Scheduled induction - had both vaginally
How I went into labor: Scheduled induction
Issues/NICU time: Baby A was in NICU for 24 hours for observation. It was mandatory because of his weight
4 Fresh IVF cycles + 1 FET where embies didn't survive the thaw = 2 perfect little men!

How they came: c/sec after 13 hours of labor
How I went into labor: My water broke at 36w4d
Issues/NICU time: Twin B had blood sugar regulation issues and went back and forth to NICU. At 2 days old he developed NEC and stayed for 21 days. No issues for Twin A. He came home with me.
Twins born at: 37w6d
twin A: 5#10oz
twin B: 8#7oz
Delivered vaginally with vacuum assist. Pushed for almost three hours with baby a (head turned) and 30 min with baby b.
Induced...they were NEVER going to come on their own lol
A little issues with jaundice that had us going to the ped every day for a little less than a week, but no NICU time.

How I went into labor: I didn't... and that was a very odd experience after labor and delivering my first.
Issues/NICU time: none/none

How I went into labor: induced 6am 2/4 after 26 hours of laboring & 3 hours of pushing baby A was not coming out (my pelvic bone is too boney to give birth vag.. but didn't find out till baby A was stuck)

How I went into labor: didn't was sent to hosp because of preclampsia
Issues/NICU time: Baby B was in the Nicu until she could maintain her body temp. She was discharged 4 days after baby b and I.

Issues/NICU time: none!
My twins were born at 38 weeks 1 day
Twin A was 5 lbs 13 oz
Twin B was 5 lbs 10 oz
How they came: scheduled cesarian
How I went into labor: n/a
Issues/NICU time: they were great! 9's on the APGAR scale.

How they came: C-section
How I went into labor: I was already in the hospital for high blood pressure and 24 hour urine monitoring. My platelet count was also dropping, so we went ahead with the c-section after 2 days of monitoring and labs.
Issues/NICU time: Baby A went to NICU for 12 hours for monitoring because he was grunting while breathing. Thankfully, both came home with me.
6 IUIs,IVF #1 w/ICSI = BFP!
Betas, 332 & 856 = twins!

How they came: C-section
How I went into labor: I didn't. It was a 27+ hour failed induction. Epi failed in the 27th hour and once they topped it off my BP took a nose dive (70/40). I was in and out of consciousness and they ordered the c-section.
Issues/NICU time: Special Care Nursery for both due to feeding issues. DD was released to our room after 3 days, DS was released after 6. DD came home with me 5 days post-delivery and we picked up DS the day after.

How they came: Induction, FTP, C-section

How they came: Vaginally after induction
How I went into labor: Scheduled Induction
Issues/NICU time: No NICU time, a couple of extra hospital days due to minor issues such as trouble maintaining body temp, weight loss, and slight jaundice

How they came: C-section because of Pre-Eclampsia

Issues/NICU time: At my hospital they had to go to the NICU due to the fact they were 35 weekers...I had them Monday night and I went home on Friday and they came home on Saturday.
My twins were born at 39 weeks.
Twin A was 5lbs, 15 oz.
Twin B was 6 lbs, 3 oz.
How they came: via scheduled repeat c-section, a vaginal delivery was contraindicated based on a previous history of stalled labor, that one baby was breech and that they shared a placenta.
How I went into labor: N/A
Issues/NICU time: no NICU time.
