Last night I was at a friend's house and heard this little gem.  My friend's exH is expecting a baby girl with his new wife and they are naming her Journey!  Seriously?  A girl?  The funniest part is my friend and her ex have a 3 year old (who was there last night) and he can't say Journey, he calls her Ernie!

Also, there was a guy there I had never met, he mentioned him and his wife was expecting a boy, I asked the name...Braylon.  Seems very feminine to me.  Just thought I would share :-)

I never understoond why parents name their children after common words... Journey, Liberty, Destiny, America, Tread/Tred...etc. NMS

Journey is nms at all, but I've only known of girls being named Journey so I don't think it is a strange name for a girl.

Braylon, on the other hand, does sound made up and reminds me of a combination of radon and nylon.

Journey is just not pretty, imo.

Isn't Drew Brees' kid Braylon (or Baylon?)  Sounds super femme and like a lame attempt to be "youneeker" than all the Braydens out there.

Really?  I have never heard it before and didn't think it was feminine sounding at all.  Well, at least they are using it for the appropriate sex I guess.

I agree it doesn't sound very feminine, but neither do a lot of the "girl" names these days.

I actually know a Journey, although her given name is Elizabeth Ann Journey and she just goes by Journey (as was intended). I actually rather like it, but I agree that it's not to be recommended and is decidedly unfeminine. It just happens to fit this particular girl.
