  • I've heard it's better to be effaced but I forget the reason why. I've been 2cm for about 2 weeks but I'm hardly effaced [like 10%] so I think I'll be here for awhile.

  • I hear it doesn't really matter one way or the other (effacement or dilation).  Your baby will come on it's own timetable... which sucks for all of us planners.  It looks like you might be having a baby today though, so good luck!

  • I was 1 cm and 70% effaced for 4 weeks in a row.

  • According to my Peri and OB, dilation is a better indicator than effacement.  I walk around 50% effaced for pretty much half of my pregnancy due to cervical weakness. 
  • Still at 2 cm dilation and now up to 80% effaced, but got sent home from hospital with contractions because its not dilating me anymore. Blah!
