Since this is my first month temping, I'm a little confused by when I should test.
My cycles are usually between 33-35 days. Last month (my first month on FF my cycle was 34 days).
Since I have been temping, I know that this cycle I ovulated on CD16. FF tells me I should test on CD35 which would be 19DPO. I am confused because I know a lot of people start testing around 12DPO. Is this just because their cycles are significantly shorter than mine? Am I unlikely to get an accurate result unless I wait until 19DPO?
I have a hard time believing I'll be able to hold out that long.
Also, while I am not sure if I always ovulate this early in my cycle, I am wondering if it is good or bad that my LP is likely a long one.
Re: Long Luteal Phase and Testing
2 years, 2 surgeries, 2 clomid fails, 2 IUIs, 1 loss, IVF #1 - 10/25/10 = BFP!, DS is now 3.5yrs!
TTC #2 - 6/12 surgery #3, FET #1 & 1.2 = BFN, 12/2012 FET #2 = BFP! DD is 1.5 yrs!
Surprise! 12/16/14 BFP, loss #2 12/31/14
I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

I, too, think you likely O'd on CD 17, not CD 16 (FF seems to be thrown off if a prior temp was high). I noticed this on my chart last month too after drinking one night; I think your illness may have thrown it off.
Anyway, I'd say you'd be fine to test if you'd like but I'm a big believer in waiting 'til after your longest LP. I'd just rather wait and see AF than a BFN though. It's just a personal preference thing, I think. GL either way - hopefully you'll see a BFP
Thanks, ladies!
I wish I could have gotten back here earlier. It seems my internet was having issues.
I was also thinking that my O day was CD17, but trusting that FF knew more about it than I did.
Either way, that would still be 18DPO before FF wants me to test. I'm going to do my best to hold out. I suppose testing early for me then would really be 13 or 14DPO. *sighhhhh*
Thanks again! And good luck to all of you
It's like you are talking directly to me!
My luteal phase is long too, my cycles are around 33 or 24 days with O around approximately CD 16 or 17. When I was first charting over 4 years ago I wasn't an 'early tester' so I waited until AF was due to test, but I almost was sure I would get a BFP because my chart that month totally was different than prior ones. Much higher sustained temps.
But this round of TTC I'm so dying to test now now now! I have a few dollar tree test hanging around calling to me....but I'm trying to be strong until next weekend. But, I don't think there is any reason we would have to wait any longer than 14 days to test in reality. Unless implantation takes longer for us than women with shorter LPs, but that just doesn't make sense.
good luck and hoping the times goes fast for both of us!
