Hi, I was on modified bedrest for just over 8 weeks due to high blood pressure and possible pre-eclampsia. My initial pre-e labs were all good except I had 300mg of protein, that is when they took me off work till delivery. I had bi-weekly nst's and was/am on Labetolol for my blood pressure. My repeat labs were good and my protein went down to 180 but they kept me on bedrest. They were going to induce me at 38 weeks due to the bp meds. I REALLY didn't want to be induced and wanted to deliver naturally on my own. But with them wanting to deliver at 38 weeks I wasn't sure this was possible. I kept praying that if there was anyway, I could go on my own. At 35 weeks my midwife did the GBS test (which I was positive for) and she checked my cervix. I was already 3.5 almost 4 cm dilated. She said, don't do ANYthing, this week, stay bedrest, but no sex etc. She wanted me to get to 36 weeks. At 36 weeks I was 4cm dilated at my Tuesday visit. By Friday I was 5.5 cm and she went ahead and stripped my membranes. My midwife said she wanted to send me over to L & D and break my water, she thought I would go on my own easily after that. We went over to the hospital at 1pm and she broke my water at 3pm after I had a round of antibiotics for the GBS. I was allowed to sit in the tub, walk the halls etc. I delivered at 8:41 pm a healthy baby girl, all natural. The only minor complication was that she had the cord wrapped around her neck so tightly that they had to cut the cord before her body came out, and then she didn't want to breath right away because of alot of fluids in her lungs. THey had to give her a little oxygen and suction alot of fluid out of her, but after that, she did great. She has had no problems or anything. She was born at 36 weeks 4 days.
I had done a last round of pre-e labs the day that I delivered and this week my midwife said that the results came back normal, with my protein levels even lower than the last time, so I did NOT have pr-eclampsia, just elevated bp. I did have polyhydramios at the end though, but this didn't cause any issues.
