Graco Snugride vs Snugride 32 - Shoulder Adjustment

We just received the Snugride and noticed after opening it that the shoulder straps do not adjust in the front.  How important is this?

I noticed that they do adjust in the front on the Snugride 35.  However it was through Wal-Marts Site to Store shipping and I'm not sure if it can be returned after being opened.

Thanks!

  • I never found it to be a big deal, you don't change the shoulder height that often. My LO was also a spitter so I was washing the cover constantly, if I needed to adjust the shoulder height I just did it then (you have to unthread the straps to remove the cover). Personally I don't understand the benefit of the 32, the regular Snugride is lighter which is a big plus. You need a convertible anyway eventually.

  • I personally like the infant seats that have the adjuster in the front.  I was constantly making sure the straps were tight enough for DD deepening on if she was wearing a light jacket or now.

You can still adjust the tightness of the straps from the front, just not the shoulder height. There's a little strap that you pull down by their feet.

This isn't necessarily what she is talking about.  All infant car seats require you to thread the shoulder height through the back of the seat.  Here is an example of what she is talking about:

    Snugride without front adjuster:

ETA: I have no idea why Graco chooses to have a front adjuster on some of their snugrides and not on others.

  • Hmm I am totally confused then. Of course you want to be able to adjust the tightness from the front, it'd be a total PITA otherwise. My Boulevard allows you to adjust the shoulder height with a knob from the front without rethreading, I thought maybe that's what she meant.

It's really nice, especially since he seems to grow about an inch a month!

  • Thanks ladies, the one I had did not have the strap by their feet to adjust in the front.  I'm going to return it.  Thanks for your insight and sorry for the confusion.  It looks like Grace does make some snugrides with and without that front adjustment.
