s/o high-cal formula

C is currently having 2 57mL bottles of 27cal Neosure a day, in addition to bf'ing. I'm worried about the Similac recall expanding, and am wondering if there are other 27-cal formulas we could switch to. Any advice? I would just switch to the rtf, but we use so little that it would be a huge waste.

Re: s/o high-cal formula

  • We used enfacare by enfamil.  We used this in the nicu and after discharge.  We mixed it with bm to up the calories but it also can be mixed to 27 cal with just water.

  • yeah, we use enfamil enfacare. given the high calories, it's actually not terrible. it definitely helped mia gain a good amount of weight. it's just that now that she's on the real growth chart, i feel like maybe we should shift our priorities to making her more comfortable.

  • We started with the enfacare and eventually switched to Targets up&up brand.  DD was on 26 cal for a long time.
  • we also use enfamil enfacare (22 cal) since Neosure made him really gassy and crabby. You would have to change the formula to water ratio to make 27cal but it has made a world of difference since we switched. They make the RTU in 2oz sizes.
