What stroller to bring to Disney

We're thinking of going to Disney and I was wondering what stroller you would recommend bringing? I have a 2 year old and 6 month old.... I have a graco quattro tour and also a babytrent double jogger... they both have pros and cons. I am also open to purchasing a different one altogether. Share your experience! Thanks so much!

Re: What stroller to bring to Disney

  • IMO, I would wait until the kids will appreciate and possibly remember the trip and that both wouldn't require a stroller.  So, a sit and stand one would be perfect.

My sister took her first 2 kids at 2yrs and 5 months and it was a nightmare juggling naps and feedings. Miserable for parents, expensive, kids don't remember and not worth it.

Married my best friend on 5/14/05
Three Girls: Bits 2/08  Biscuit 10/09 & Sweet Chuck 2/12
One Favorite son: Suishy Smalls 6/14
    And another Princess coming 7/16
  • Thanks for the input, the suggestion is appreciated. We are going regardless... I have no expectations other than to spend time with my family. We?re not too worried about the cost. If we spend an hour or two at the parks each day that?s fine with me. to us it will be worth the fun our daughter has right there and then in the moment...even though I know she won't remember it other than from pictures.

  • I just went for the day. My DH has a connection to Disney and we got in for free. (we were driving through). I have a BJ city select, and it was a great for being in the parks, bad for the tram/bus. Most of the time they werent in the stroller at the same time. I wore DD a lot, or DS was on DH's shoulders.

We are going again in Feb and will bring our single city mini--its easy to fold.

to answer you question, I would either bring a single or your double thats easiest to fold.

and FWIW, DS is 21 months and had a BLAST at disney. he is 2-3 hr napper and ran all day without more than a 20 min one in the stroller....he was fine.

    have fun!

  • We went around the same time with our two kids, and we had a fantastic time. Our two year old at the time loved, loved, loved it. She still talks about it to this day. My son was a little older than five months, but he still enjoyed it, and was pretty easy to take around. Be sure to take advantage of the family rooms (nice place to nurse/give bottles). We brought our Phil and Ted double stroller and it was perfect.

  • I've been lurking some for stroller advice, but we just got back from Disney and had a great experience renting a stroller from magicstrollers.com. The price was great and we were able to travel lighter without having to deal with a stroller in the airport. We have flown a few times and have always opted to leave our stroller at home because of not wanting one more thing to lug around the airport. I'm sure our experience with two will be more trying and we may want to travel with a stroller, as you are. If you can travel without the stroller and rent one when you get there, that might be a great option. You may feel that you need your stroller for the airport, and in that case I'd recommend the SBS for Disney.

FWIW - this was our mentality. Going to Disney was almost more for us than for our son. We needed a getaway and wanted something that felt "all inclusive" but still had things to do outside the resort. We enjoyed the relaxation and took plenty of time at the resort and just 2 days in parks. It was a wonderful trip and we can't wait to go back, even though our original plan was to wait until our kids were much older and would remember it. Even if our son's biggest enjoyment was on the carousel, we were so happy to go and had a great time. I hope you have a great trip!

  • I have the same strollers. We are going to disney next month and we are taking the baby trend jogger. I am also going to bring my k'tan for when the LO doesnt want to be in the stroller. I couldnt imagine pushing that graco all day. have fun. Just to chime in my son was 5 months old the first time he went to disney and he had a blast. To this day mickey is his favorite character. Whether or not he remembers it I have great pictures and memories that i will remember. Plus I love disney.

  • I would take the double jogger. DS1 has gone at 15wks, 6mths, 9 1/2mths old and each time we took our BOB. It was great b/c it was better for outside use which is primarily where you are using it. We go agian in December. DS1 will be 18mths and DS2 will be 10wks old. This time around we plan on using our City Select since DS2 will be so little that we're hoping he can stay in his car seat on the city select. Plus we're not sure hte double bob will fit in the car with all our luggage (we drive there). We'll see if it's smart or not.

Oh and we've had a blast each time we've went with DS1. Just seeing his eyes get all big and smiling at mickey or the other characters makes it so worth it. The pictures and videos we have from each trip are amazing and I love watching them.

  • We went in early September when DS was 13 months old.  We also flew and left our stroller at home.  We rented a BJ City Mini with a rain cover from Orlando Strollers (or something like that) for about $80 for 8 days.  They deliver to most resorts and have double strollers also.  It worked really well for us.  We also had a carrier in case he wanted out of the stroller (which he did) for a bit.  I would rent from them again in a heartbeat.

Although it was still really hot when we were there, DS had fun and it was just great to be together as a family.  Have fun!

  • We went with just one kid when he was 4 months old.  We all had a great time!  We went because my husband and I love Disney.  Of course, Jack doesn't remember it, but it was fun for us to take him, and we have great pictures.  As for the stroller, we brought our Bugaboo Bee, and it worked great.  One thing to keep in mind, even if you're driving to the parks yourself, you have to take the tram from your car to the actual parks, and you can't keep the strollers open on the trams, so you'll want to bring a stroller that you can close up easily.  Once you're actually in each park, you shouldn't ever need to fold it up.  Also, as someone else mentioned, each park has a baby care center with huge nice changing tables, a microwave, a room to feed kids with movies and high chairs, and a breastfeeding room.  They're really helpful!
