TTC after 35

Help me make sense of my results please!

Good morning ladies.  I got my results of my hormone tests and am not real sure whether it is good or bad.

Proactin Level normal; TSH .5; FSH 4.09 but they said it could be a false low because my estrogen level was 138 and they said that was high.  My LH was 1.90.

I'm new to all of this and am not quite sure what all of this means.  They also told me I was a bit low on the follicle count (with 8 total), but then I hear that's not bad.

I still have to get my latest mammogram (probably next week before my HSG).

I also have to have my complete blood work done and they are going to recheck the rubella results as I have concerns about the accuracy of what my OBGYN gave me. Reason being, because my maiden name was a common name and he had 3 or 4 patients with my name. I found when calling for some labs that they had other patient's info in my file.  So, I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Thank you in advance for any insight you can give me on my results.

Have a great day ladies!!

  • Well, mostly you have to ask your doctor of course.  I don't know about the others but as someone with thyroid issues (as in, I have no thyroid), I think your TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) might be just a bit low (meaning you might be slightly, just slightly, hyperthyroid).  The optimal range most doctors go by is a TSH of 1-2.  That said, my RE was fine with me trying to conceive a few months back when my TSH was even lower than that, and there's debate about what the "normal" TSH range is (can be anywhere from .3-4.00 or something like that), plus each person's body is different in this respect, so please don't let anything I've said alarm you.  Find out what the "normal" range was for the lab that did the TSH.  Your doctor will definitely let you know if the number might be any kind of problem.

  • This is the site I used to evaluate my results. I do agree with lhcooper that you should take any "normal" guidelines with a grain of salt and definitely discuss with your doctor. Good luck! https://www.fertilityplus.org/faq/hormonelevels.html#female

  • Thanks, Ladies.  My RE's range for TSH is .4 to 4.0.  I'm going to talk to his nurse today and get a little more detailed info.  There is just so much info to take in and sometimes my brain turns to mush.

Thank you for your input.  Every bit helps.  It means so much to have all of you ladies out there.
