Cloth Diapering

What did you do with your outgrown prefolds?

Silly question, but what did you do with your outgrown prefolds?

I was thinking of making cloth wipes out of them, but they get really rough when they don't go in the dryer and I wouldn't want that on my bum!  Plus I would feel horrible just to throw them out.

Thanks!

  • I have GMD orange-edged PFs, and I use them as inserts in pocket dipes, burp rags and to line the changing pad.  I certainly wouldn't throw them out!  You can try to sell them.  Depending on the brand, size and condition, PFs are in pretty high demand.

  • I still use the yellow edge to fold in thirds and lay inside the cover.

  • Definitely don't throw them out!  They can be used as inserts later on when you need more absorbency, or burp cloths with another little one.  If you really don't want to keep them, list them on Craigslist or freecycle or something.  You could sell them on diaperswappers, too, but they are heavy and $$$ to ship.

  • I sold mine for what I paid for them (new.)
  • OMG, I didn't even think about inserts.  Thanks for making me get rid of that brain fart!
  • Inserts or burp cloths! We also use them on the changing pad. Still thinking of selling them, though, too. Although they're fabulous and I'm torn.

  • Also, when the your babys are older they make GREAT dusting rags.  I remember growing up my Mom always had a box labeled "dust rags" filled with them.  I didnt realize until I was older that they were old diapers.

When you're all done using them (no more kiddos) they work great as replacements for paper towels.
