Stripping with Dawn?

Who uses Dawn?  Does it matter which kind/color Dawn you use?  I looked at all of them and decided on the one that was clear, it said no dyes or perfumes or anything, it seemed to match best with what you look for in a detergent.  Then someone told me you're supposed to buy the blue Dawn?  :(  I figure the Dawn is for the purpose of breaking down oils and anything in the diapers, and any type of Dawn should work right?  Or should I use a specific one?   Thanks!

  • I haven't really tried it yet, but you're supposed to use original dawn, not the kind with any sort of power boosts or concentration. Just plain old Dawn. You want to avoid enzymes and such.

  • I think you're supposed to use the blue dawn.  I stripped with Dawn once.... you only need a tiny dab.  Dawn makes a craaaaaaaazy amount of bubbles.  I think I rinsed the diapers about 300 times before the bubbles came out.  (Well, somewhere close to that, anyway.  ;)

  • It HAS to be regular old BLUE dawn. No addditives. I use a squirt or so in my front loader and have never had any issues. You can do it with every wash if you want or just put it in with the hottest wash you do. Add an extra rinse if you think you need it. (i usually do)

  • Dang it!  I didn't know if it mattered so when I looked at them all I bought the dye free hypoallergenic one, it seemed like the one that made most sense when I was at the store.  Oh well, I'll just use it on my dishes and pick up the blue stuff!  Also I read to use 1 tablespoon but dish soap really SUDS up that seems like a lot.  Sounds like a lot of people just use a squirt.
