f/u to found a Stray Dog

Well, the owners of the dog came and took it while dh and I were at family night dinner at church.  They left a note thanking us for not letting it get hit by a car.

When DH was inspecting it tonight he noticed tumors on the dogs stomach, he thinks that is has cancer or some other type of disease.  I just feel awful for the little guy.

I called the Animal Control today when I was looking for a cheap vet to check out the dogs health.  I just left a message.  If it was you and the Animal Control returned your called would you tell them about the awful shape that the dog was in?

I would tell them that you have concerns, & explain what those are.  If the owners are taking care of him, they shouldn't be offended & should be able to provide evidence that he's undergoing care.  

I'm sorry that you had a bittersweet experience...hope the little guy is okay.

I dunno...did they pick the dog up from your house? Maybe I've been living in Phoenix too long but I wouldn't want some crazed piece of trash (b/c only trashy people let their dogs get flea-infested and covered in tumors) knowing where I live and having a grudge.

This is my mom's thoughts.  Yes, they came into my back covered porch and took the dog while we were not at home.  It wasn't locked, but I still do not like the fact that they just basically walked in without asking.  

I just feel like I need to say something.  I wish that I would have taken a picture of the dog and the shape that it was in.

If you're worried about the dog say something. It's not fair to him to be treated poorly and if the owners need help paying for care then animal control with either be able to get them the help they need or take the dog and get it under better living conditions.

As far as potential crazies, I would certainly start locking my porch door for awhile and just be a little extra vigilant.

IMO, there are a lot of people that may not speak up for the dog because they are afraid of the person coming to their house and being violent towards them. I personally would not let that stop me. Dogs do not have voices to speak up for themselves. I would call.

1.  How does anyone know that these were the dog's rightful owners?

2.  WTF & holy trespassing, Batman!!!  

If you wanted to, you could call the POLICE about this little incident.  I'm getting yucky chills just thinking about it.  I'm so sorry!!!

I have called and left another message on the Animal Control Officer's voicemail.  I guess we will see if I get a call back.  I left one yesterday.  This time I said on the message about it was about dog abuse/endangerment.
