What diaper pail would you recommend for twins? I'm concerned with smell and ease of use. I tried to search the board for a similar post but my search option doesn't seem to be working well. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
We were given two of the Diaper Champs...I like the idea of being able to use regular trash bags and with the Diaper Genie you have to buy the refills.
Kimarino swears by the Safety First diaper pail (can also use regular trash bags) and that's the one we registered for but I'm not going to pass up two free diaper pails being handed down to us so we're using the DIaper Champ.

love, love, love our diaper dekor. It's pretty good size and so we only have to empty every other day. So far, no smell whatsoever and it's totally easy. I've used a genie beofre and I foudn it to be a pain!
My DH and I were just saying how a diaper pail of any kind was a waste. Whether you use regular bags or the refills with a regular pail or a special diaper pail, the bags still need to be thrown out regularly. We've found it easier to just put a small plastic bag by the changing table and throw it out every night. You'll find what works best for you. GL!
I think we have a Diaper Champ and it seems fine, although I only use it for poopy diapers. For regular wet ones, I just throw them in a open trash can and it works well. Honestly, I didn't start using the Diaper Champ until the girls were 8-9 months old and eating a good bit of solids (or maybe even later). Before that, I just used a regular trash can since their diapers really didn't smell that much.

My SIL gave me really good advice on this. She said to skip it. We had two diaper changing areas - one on the main floor and one in the twins' bedroom. When we changed the boys downstairs I would just walk the diapers over to the trash in the laundry room. That one was emptied often so I didn't have to worry about remembering to change it. For their bedroom we used an old fashioned diaper pail (plastic trash can with a lid and an opening for diapers). It worked great for all those overnight changes in the beginning and we would change it every day. I bought some of those odor blocking disks and never really had a problem with odors. I think I spent $10 on the diaper pail.
Once we got to where we were only changing diapers in the morning (or an occassional leak though overnight) I would just leave a plastic grocery bag upstairs and put the diapers in there. I would then carry the bag down every morning to the main trash can.

I'm using a diaper champ for my DS. You can use reg. kitchen trash bags which is nice. It held odors and I only took it out once a week! It wasn't until the last month or two that it's started to STINK, but his poo is also REALLY starting to stink these days. But he's 19 months now! It held up well until now....now I just take the poo out instead of keeping it around in the pail.
I had asked this same question awhile back - a number of MoMs recommended just getting a stainless steel garbage can. This is what we ended up doing and it works great - uses regular garbage bags, is larger than most diaper pails and keeps the smell to a minimum. I also use the Arm & Hammer deoderizing disks inside the can to help combat the smell. I bought a simpleHuman can at BBB with a 20% off coupon - so it was a great deal.
Your diaper pail will fill up often with two - good luck on your new little ones!!
