Lobster...

I'm going to a restaurant over the weekend that has the most amazing Lobster Mac n' Cheese. My OB doctor told me to try and stay away from fish but I really want to have this, just this once. What would you do?

  • I sure as hell would

You can eat fish, just not huge amounts, like 3 or more a week.

I've eaten shrimp, salmon, tilapia. You're fine.

I'm totally jealous of your lobster mac!!!

  • www.americanpregnancy.org has a good list for types and amounts of fish that you can eat.

  • I was told I can eat 1/2 lb. of fish per week and I don't even think that includes Lobster.  I would eat it and enjoy every last bite.

  • It's fine.  It's just the stuff that's high in mercury you should really avoid (shark, swordfish, etc).  Other seafood should be fine in moderation, as long as it's fully cooked.

I'd eat the hell out of that lobster.

I believe the "rule" is less than 12 ounces of certain fish and shellfish a week. Still, screw the rules. IT'S LOBSTER.

    LOL.  Jinx!

Lobster is listed as HIGH in mercury. But it still says 3 6oz. servings a month. (This list saved my life during my last trip home. I live in WY. so I dont get ANY seafood I was only home at my parents house on the beach for 2 weeks so i ate a ton of seafood)

  • Lobster = Yum!

Lobster Mac and Cheese just sounds wrong though. Lol. That's good though b/c I'm nowhere near lobster so hopefully will prevent the craving.

  • I love lobster but I wouldnt - check out this site...

  • It's ok to eat seafood, just avoid seafood with high mercury levels. In fact, oysters are very good for pregnant women as they contain the most iron than any other protein!

Anyway, eat away. I eat salmon 2-3 times a week. AND, for those of you who don't know this, it should make you very happy, all seafood is better for you if eaten with a cream sauce. The nutrients found in fish that is so good for us is better absorbed with fat! Ha! I love it!!

We do too:) But we make them at home, because I don't like getting messy while i eat (one of my actually very few neurosis), so I crack the whole thing, up at the sink, make a bowl of the meat, wash my hands, and enjoy!

  • HECK yea! It's all about moderation (but steering clear of fish with high mercury contents and raw fish obviously). I just had a lobster roll last night as a matter of fact (all fully cooked of course). MMMMMMMMMM
