My privarte daycare/preschool has never had a fundraiser. They are involved in fundraising type of things for good causes but never for the school itself. They did do the save the lable thing last year for new playground equipment but it was not asking me for money. I would let it be known at a private preschool that I pay to send my kids to that I didn't want fundraising. It will be enough of that when my kids start elementary school. My older DD is in the prek program at the elementary school but I pay for it (and more than I paid for daycare) and I would not be happy if they did fundraising.
My kids' non-profit preschool had fundraisers of both types: to support the school and to support other causes. However, the fundraising was pretty laid back and there was not huge pressure to get out there and sell, sell, sell, etc.
Now I have kids at 2 different elementary schools and I'm teaching at a private school which is always doing fundraising. I feel pretty bombarded by different opportunities to buy stuff! I've written SO many checks in the past few weeks!
the DC that i work at does fundraising to lower the price of the bus fee for field trips. cause our parents were complaining that the fee was too high so we offered a fundraiser and the parents seem to be happier.

DD was sent home with a fundraising packet 3 days after school started. Granted, she does attend an international school where she's learning 3 languages AND the school goes up to 10th grade (and will eventually expand to 12th grade); so, I understand that money does need to be raised but 3 days after school starts? Geez, Louise...
Our preschool has a big fundraiser in the spring - a silent auction to fund scholarships. Other than that, the school has a couple of charitable drives (food bank for example) but that's it.
My twins are 5! My baby is 3!
DS#2 - Allergic to Cashew, Pistachio, Kiwi
DS#3 - Allergic to Milk, Egg, Peanut, Tree Nuts and Sesame
Yes, our daycare/preschool has fundraisers a couple of times a year. They're doing one now, in fact. It started when he was an infant. I remember getting the fundraising packet when I picked him up one day and being like, "Whaaaa? He's only 6 months old?!"
Sometimes we participate, sometimes we don't. It depends on what they're selling. At least they tell us what how they are using the money they get. Two years ago, they were able to put one of those huge SPF shade tents over the whole playground.
